Where does your business really stand on AI?
AI decisions are getting harder to make without context. A strategy can look solid on paper and still be behind what other businesses are already doing. Take 7 to 8 minutes to see where you stand against your peers, and help build the third annual benchmark of how businesses are approaching AI strategy, governance, skills, and search visibility.
A Look Back: What Business Leaders Shared in 2025
Confidence in AI climbed in 2025. One of the biggest barriers to acting on it didn’t move.
AI Confidence
Most business leaders believed AI could help achieve their business goals. That was up from 72% in 2024.
AI in Strategic Planning
Only about 1 in 4 businesses said AI was a frequent topic of formal conversations across their company, up from 20% in 2024.
Lack of Time to Evaluate AI
Over a third of respondents cited lack of time to evaluate AI’s pros and cons. That figure was unchanged from 2024.

AI Strategy
Purpose Behind the Adoption
AI adoption works best when it connects to a clear business goal, something it's actually meant to accomplish. A defined strategy brings direction, priorities, and a way to measure progress across AI initiatives.

Governance & Risk
Rules Behind AI Use
As more people in a business start using AI, questions come up fast: what's okay to use it for, what data it should never touch, and who's responsible if something goes wrong. Those are the guardrails governance is meant to put in place.

Skills & Training
Confidence vs. Capability
AI familiarity doesn't always mean an organization has built consistent capability. Skills may come from formal training, experimentation, peer learning, or independent learning, and that can shape how confidently AI is used across the business.

AI Search & Visibility
Showing Up in AI Answers
Customers can use ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI tools to research businesses alongside traditional search. That creates a new visibility challenge: whether the business is showing up when customers use AI to discover and evaluate their options.

Now in its third year, the 2026 survey focuses on AI strategy, governance, skills and training, and search visibility, and how those efforts are showing up in business outcomes.
The survey is open to CEOs, founders, business owners, C-suite executives, senior leaders, managers, marketing professionals, consultants, and other professionals who can speak to how their organization is approaching AI. You do not need technical or AI expertise to participate.
The 2026 survey takes about 7 to 8 minutes to complete. Most questions are simple multiple-choice or selection questions, so participants can share their experience without needing to prepare information or write lengthy responses.
The 2026 survey is shorter and more focused. It looks beyond whether businesses are using AI to how they are approaching strategy, governance, skills and training, and search visibility, and whether it's producing measurable business outcomes.
WSI uses individual responses to compile the research, but participants are not identified in the published report. Findings are presented as combined data across respondents rather than attributed to individual people or businesses.
You can complete the survey without providing your name or company name. An email address is needed so WSI can send you the 2026 AI Business Insights Report when it's published, and enter you into the draw for a $100 Amazon gift card.
